Conquer the Courts

Learn tennis as a family at USTA’s Nemours Family Zone

November 20, 2019

From parks and trails to watersports and ropes courses, there’s no shortage of family-friendly ways to stay active in Lake Nona. At the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus, the Nemours Family Zone takes family fun to the next level at no cost!

That’s right, the Family Zone is free for children 10 and under and their families all week. Plus, you can reserve a court online ahead of time. Family Zone hours are regular campus hours, but they recommend you make a reservation: Monday – Thursday:  8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday: 8 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday:  8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Family Zone features two junior court sizes that give kids a unique opportunity to learn and play in an environment designed for their age and ability. With eight 60-foot courts and eight 36-foot courts (compared to a traditional 78-foot court), all family members can get on the court and in the game.

In addition to the smaller court sizes, the USTA offers shorter racquets and low-compression balls that help kids rally longer and with more control. These features combined with adult and youth programming in the Family Zone help accelerate learning for youth and beginner adults.
