Lake Nona Installs View® Smart Windows Across Commercial Projects

Orlando, Fla. – (April 2, 2020) Lake Nona is working with View, Inc. to install the company’s smart windows across a variety of new and existing commercial buildings throughout the 17-square-mile innovative community. One of the fastest-growing trends in sustainable building, View Smart Windows predictively tint in response to outdoor conditions, eliminating the need for blinds, while also offering health and wellness benefits for building occupants and the environment.

“We’re excited to align with another forward-thinking company like View to bring this new technology to Lake Nona,” said Juan Santos, Senior Vice President of Innovation at Tavistock Development Company, the Lake Nona developer. “Reducing energy consumption and creating environments that improve health are top priorities for our community and our company as a whole. We are investing significantly into this groundbreaking infrastructure, in both new and existing buildings, so that the benefits can be realized immediately. In the office environment, installing the world’s most intelligent glass provides new and exciting opportunities to optimize connectivity by improving the building’s psychological and technological characteristics.”

View Smart Windows will be installed this summer into three existing buildings in the Laureate Park neighborhood Village Center, including a fitness studio, Canvas Restaurant & Market, and Lake Nona’s event venue, Dockside. Additional installations include the new, 17-story Lake Nona Wave Hotel and a 120,000-square-foot office building, both currently under construction in Lake Nona Town Center. General contractor Barton Malow Builders recently completed the installation of the smart windows on the office building that is expected to open this summer. “View is experiencing unprecedented growth as we reinvent the way buildings are built by putting the wellbeing of people first,” said Rahul Bammi, Chief Business Officer of View, Inc. “Together with thoughtful partners like Lake Nona, we have a unique opportunity to improve people’s quality of life while also benefiting the environment. There’s no need for any trade-off between people, planet, and profit.”

Since its inception 12 years ago, View has installed more than 65 million square feet of smart window glass in buildings across the globe including hospitals, airports, hotels, educational facilities, and office buildings.

Installing View Smart Windows is the latest example of Lake Nona’s dedication to finding innovate and sustainable solutions that benefit the community.
